My instinct to make ‘responsive creative performance’ is inspired by
- my personal journey
- the people I meet through volunteering at Sage House
- my time as an end-of-life carer for my parents
- and our fears as a family as we confront dementia.
My lockdown journey became that of caring for my parents with
terminal cancers. This experience moved me to study as an End-of-Life Doula
and this compassionate & creative practice led me to Sage House. Through this
partnership, we aim to share a creative development practice to enable
confidence in carers and families to work imaginatively. This work can continue
beyond this project, creating a practical tool- kit which embeds into the already
excellent care service.
The ReFramed Project aims to gently challenge/embrace/reassure/illuminate/explore stigma and fears, reduce anxiety and provide;
- an opportunity for personal development for all
- a space for those who need support and a platform for discussion
- empowerment for carers and people living with dementia
- a space for laughter and friendships
- ownership back to people who have lost their voices, or feel over-looked
- a remembrance legacy
- a template for future learning as part of the Sage House tool kit supporting new Dementia
Hubs across the UK.
We aim to explore the idea that new connections can flourish when we shift away from expectation of memory.
